This is probably the third Marvel movie I've ever watched (the first two being The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and here's my opinion.
Like where can I begin? This was probably one of the best movies I've ever watched (both on TV and cinema) and I love it. If you've ever been wondering if there's a movie which stays true to it's origin, then Deadpool it is. And what do I mean by that? Normally, when we say if a movie/tv show "stays true to it's origin", it means that the personality, physical appearance, actions and traits of the main characters must be the same as in the books. The writers, directors and producers made that happen so that's a
BIG PLUS from me.
The second most important thing is the acting. When an actor plays a character from a book, he/she must make it look so good as if that character magically came out of the comic and into the film.
Ryan Reynolds totally nailed it. I've seen Ryan in other films. I liked them. But as for this one - I love it. It's as if Ryan was born to play Deadpool. He was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Thanks to this movie, Ryan Reynolds became my most favourite actor. And Deadpool - most favourite character. Not that I haven't liked Deadpool before. I did enjoy The Amazing Spider-Man #611 (yes, I'm a comic book reader), where Spider-Man meets Deadpool for the first time and it was hilarious. And if you're a big fan of Spider-Man/Deadpool then watch
Ultimate Spider-Man Season 2 Episode 15 (it's the best USM episode so far). If there's ever a crossover movie/show with Deadpool and Spider-Man, it'll become my favourite. Seriously, these two would make such awesome buddies.
Anywho, back to the review. The next best thing that did happen in the movie is the introduction of Colossus (the big metal guy if you're wondering), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (the cool goth girl), Angel Dust (the woman who pounded Colossus) and Ajax (the one guy who gave Deadpool the totally awesome healing factor). Oh, and lets not forget Vanessa Carlysle a.k.a. Deadpool's totally awesome girlfriend a.k.a. Copycat. She did have a big role in the film, but she didn't do much (other that the romantic scenes with Wade). I do hope to see more from her in Deadpool 2, and by "more" I mean to finally see her as Copycat. Still, she became my most favourite female character in the movie, but I think that Angel Dust and NTW's powers are the best.
The plot was also great. The movie kept switching between scenes, mainly to show how Wade became Deadpool and why Deadpool was out to kill Ajax. It focused both on Wade's past and present. Unlike the Amazing Spider-Man, it did not show any scenes from Wade's childhood, but I don't think that's necessary at all.
The villains proved to be quite the enemies for Deadpool. It took three people (Deadpool, Colossus & Negasonic Teenage Warhead) to stop Ajax and Angel Dust. Deadpool was fighting Ajax to both kill him and save Vanessa. Colossus was busy trying to stop Angel Dust, but she proved to be quite the equal to him and knocked the stars out of Colossus a few times. And Negasonic was.... well... busy blowing up the rest of the troops of Ajax and by the looks of it, you could tell she was winning (not that those troops had a chance against her).
And of course, what's a Deadpool movie without lots of humour in it. Some of the scenes proved to be so funny, I laughed during the movie (and I almost never laugh when I'm in a cinema). I even had tears in my eyes. I've never laughed so hard to a movie ever. I recommend this movie to everyone (if you're the appropriate age of course). You won't won't won't regret it.
And here's my rating:
